Letters from Earth
I Casiona from the province Uma of our great planet Nomania must request an extension for my work here on the planet earth I have found the inhabitants of this planet lived in a world full of ignorance and discrimination. The core values of the earthling’s concern money and power they segregate groups by what they call social class, skin color and religion according to the literature I have absorbed. I found letters and materials of a man they called John Smith he referred to a people called Native Americans as savages and barbarians. In the text The Capital and The Bay a piece that was a captivity narrative he recalled a situation where he was captured after terrorizing and ransacking the natives homeland “ Captain Smith was led after him by three great Salvages, holding him fast by each arme: and on each side went in fyle with their Arrowes nocked.”By the earthlings Smith was revered as a great explorer but also a vain and boastful man. His referral to Native American’s as savages after they offered him kindness and help shows the intolerance that the earth beings had for superficial differences. In my travels we have encountered many different beings but none as intolerant and close minded as these earthlings. I wonder how they were able to survive for centuries with so much hatred and discontent for those whose differences are only skin deep or faith based. As I continued my research I found more literature he was one of the many people who settled in a province called Virginia during a time of Puritanism. Puritan’s lived under the belief that a higher being they called God was the creator and maintained all life they believed “God saves those he wishes only a few are selected for salvation” (Reuben). The Puritan people had written literature and testaments in a book which they call the Bible that affirmed through interpretation these personal beliefs. The more I read the more I am astonished by these beings they were not all so two dimensional there were other great literary and poets that held beliefs that were contrary to the beliefs of the mass population. There was a writer named Anne Bradstreet a woman who used symbolism she wrote with such passion for deeper meaning and imagery using words that gave mental pictures of her life to express herself and describe the love of her family. I can recall reading a piece she had written to her husband where she stated If ever two were one, then surely we. If ever man were loved by wife, then thee; If ever wife was happy in a man, Compare with me, ye women, if you can (Bradstreet). Her talent was indisputable but it was hidden from the world for decades, as I said before ignorance blinded many people to the talent of women and what human’s deemed lesser beings. The passion and diction that she commanded through the images of her pieces left me to wonder why would need or have to hide such talent and words worth sharing. Politics and faith ruled the earth beings blinding them to what they were missing, a sense of closeness and fulfilled living which our people share in a collective world derived from cultural ecology. Through my research I have stumbled upon a faith called Deism- the closest reference to the beliefs of our great planet. Deism is also referred to as European Enlightenment one the values and beliefs of enlightenment is “Practical or applied religion for the individual consists in achieving virtue through rational (reasonable) guidance of conduct; virtue consists in acting for the good of humankind” (Hooker). In our land education and equality are the foundations of our planet which is full of different beings. On earth human’s are at the top of the food chain and they are separated by feeble difference’s my research indicates that it was this ignorance that kept millions of people in what they refer to as poverty. Nomania’s way of life could have saved life on this planet there was once so much beauty and talent their once lived a man here named Benjamin Franklin and he was the creator of electricity the force which lights the tunnels and capes we live in. It’s sad to say that the ancients that traveled here so long ago taught them nothing they never evolved into tolerant beings. Many were killed and enslaved during wars over religion and skin color with all the advancements my dear friends I ask how can this be? The ancients spoke of a land filled with life so many organisms in one place. Earthlings were able to evolve and find cures to deadly diseases but no cure for ignorance could be found before they perished. Talent wasn’t lacking in this strange land another poet was swayed by his heart to write of the short comings of his people through poetry he wrote Without a king, we till the smiling plain; Without a king, we trace the unbounded sea, And traffic round the globe, through each degree; Each foreign clime our honoured flag reveres, Which asks no monarch, to support the STARS: Without a king, the laws maintain their sway, While honour bids each generous heart obey(Philip Freneau). Philip Freneau was well respected for his opinions and kind hearted nature he didn’t wish to fight with the opposition he wished only to provide them there with another more peaceful way that coincides with the true nature and beliefs of their God. My research, I’m afraid has not come to an end I have many more centuries of literature to absorb to get a better understanding of why the people perished and did evolve for the fate of their survival. In the interest of the ancients and the education of our future generations I must stay and continue my work to ensure other worlds will never suffers the same fate as a planet that once held so much untapped potential and beauty.
