Grading

(Be sure to read all the way to the bottom of this page for important information about minimum participation requirements)

Fifty percent of the course grade will be determined by three wiki pages. The first wiki page will count for 10% of the grade. The second and third will each be 20% of the grade.

The remaining 50% percent of the grade will be determined by weekly activities. These activities include quizzes (15%) and Discussions (35%).

More Grading Info

I do not want the grading process to be a mystery, so here are a few more specifics about how I calculate grades for the course.

For wiki pages:

Points achieved on all wiki pages ÷ numer of points possible on all pages = % of 50% student receives toward final grade

Example:
125 ÷ 150 = 83.33%;
83.33% x 50% = 41.67% of the 100% final grade

For Discussions:

Points achieved on all discussions ÷ number of points possible on all discussions = % of 35% student receives toward final grade

Example:
30÷ 35 = 85.71 %;
85.71% x 35% = 30% of final grade

For quizzes:

Points achieved on all quizzes÷ numer of points possible on all quizzes = % of 15% student receives toward final grade

Example:
54 ÷ 65 = 85.71%;
85.71% x 15% = 12.86% of final grade

If we add all of the percentages together from the examples above, this fictional student would receive a total of 84.53% out of 100% which is equivalent to a letter grade of B.

Very Important Information about Minimum Participation

Students are required to complete at least half of the discussions and half of the quizzes. If a student does not complete at least half of the discussions and half of the quizzes, he or she will fail the class. This requirement overrides all other grading criteria.
